Friday Five: Fall Races to Run

DC_linkup

Every Friday, three DC area bloggers Mary at Mar On the Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up For What?! and Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC to host the Friday Five linkup.  Anyone can join with their own Friday Five post (yes, it must be a Friday Five!!)  They encourage you to visit other blogs on the linkup, comment, share and engage!

This week, the theme is Five Fall Races to Run:

Here are my top 5:

Oct 10, 2015

1. Brooklyn Rock N Roll Half Marathon – This will be my first Rock n Roll race and my 15th half marathon.

Oct. 31, 2105

2. NYRR Dash to the Finish Line – I am really excited about this one.  Finally I will be running a race in NYC. It starts near the UN and ends in Central Park.  I will get to cross the finish line of the NYC Marathon (which is the next day.)

3.  Stockade-athon – This a very popular local 15K. I have run it 3 times.  They changed the course last year and I enjoyed it even more.

4. Troy Turkey Trot – Last year I ran this 10K for the first time and I plan to do it again.  Lots of runners and loads of fun.

5.  Great Pumpkin Challenge – I ran this 10k for the first time last year.  I may just do the 5k this year.  We’ll see. I enjoyed running in Saratoga State Park.

Happy Running! What’s on your fall racing schedule? Anyone running any of the above races?

  1. I love your list and wish I was doing RnR Brooklyn just so we could meet in real life! Any chance you will be in NYC to spectate for the marathon? I will be running that Nov. 1st!

  2. We are so very up in the air about what’s going on this fall. Chester isn’t doing that well & we haven’t been able to put dog sitting in place yet. There are a couple of halfs on my radar in November, but I am not sure we’ll be able to travel then.

      • Oh yes, it ‘s an option. I went to Austin my own. He did come in that night after the race, but I went out early on my own.

I’d go to VT on my own, that is.

But the November races – probably not. Hard part is there’s just no way now to tell how he’ll be doing on 2 months.

When I asked the cardiologist at our last appt how much longer he thought Chester had, he said maybe 6 months. Which is the beginning of December.

So if he was doing badly I wouldn’t want to go; I would want to be here. We’re still kind if in just wait & see. Obviously I don’t have to do a half in November; my husband does have to take a couple of weeks off before the end of the yr.

Anyway, one day, one race at a time, right?

          • Not THAT much difference in our ages! And you’re as young as you feel, right?

We’re just juggling way too many balls in the places we want to travel to in the next few months.

I did say toy husband maybe he ought to go to Vegas by himself & I’d go to Manhattan by myself – or rather when you do your 5k. But them I’d have to find somewhere to stay myself.

  3. I’m still drooling over the RnR medal. It is still so HOT here I can’t imagine fall, even though I know it should be close. And even though I’ve been using pumpkin creamer since JULY. Sigh.
